Sustainability

Hanover High School is committed to being a sustainable school through student-driven organizations, including our Climate Action Plan Implementation Team and Environmental Club. Our connection to the natural world and dedication to environmental stewardship can be seen in our mission statement and is reflected throughout our campus, from our well-attended yearly Earth Day event to ezH2O bottle filling stations to our quadrennial Trash on the Lawn Day.

Our Environmental Club meets weekly and supports the student-facilitated compost and recycling programs. Additionally, the value of a pollinator garden planted on campus by students in the summer of 2018 is portrayed through beautiful paintings by 2019 HHS graduate Greta Bolinger. A Climate Action Plan written by HHS students for Hanover High School was implemented in the fall of 2019 and is the first Climate Action Plan written for a high school. As a school, we hope to move from sustainable systems to regenerative systems that will support and grow the ecosystems upon which humanity depends. Hanover High School continues to be a leader in sustainability initiatives - learn all about them here!
