From Our Administration

We have completed 1st semester classes and our students and teachers are working extremely hard to wrap up their courses. For those who are new to exams at HHS, there is an exam FAQ sheet. Link here! The exam schedule is on our website. Link here! Scroll down to news and events. Please remember that our personal device policy is still in effect during exams. Phones should be left at home or be off and away in backpacks. If you are experiencing issues at home while your students are going through the exam process, please reach out to the teacher, the counseling department or the main office. We are always here to support your students.

I also know that many of you are aware that we are trying to stress the importance of on time arrival to our classes. We want to make sure our students are getting everything we have to offer and that they do not disrupt the education of others. Our combined effort with families appears to have been successful. 14% of the student body had to have a 1st consequence conversation with our administration surrounding their tardy behavior. Only 4% of the student body had to have 2nd consequence in reference to their tardies. Only 1.2% had to have a 3rd consequence. I wanted to give you this information because the dramatic decrease in tardy behavior for students was in large part due to the hard work put in by students, their parents, teachers and administration. Thank you for this continued effort.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Julie Stevenson

Council Report

Council met for the first time in 2026 (!!) on Wednesday, January 7th, with a shortened meeting due to the snow day.

The body continued discussion about the HW Due on Test Day Motion, brought to change the handbook to prevent assigning homework unrelated to a test to be due on the same day as a test in that class. Concerns about “over-legislating” outside of Council’s jurisdiction meant the body decided to refer the motion to the Committee on Programming and Procedure (CPP), which is formed of staff department heads and administrators, to get their thoughts. In the remaining minutes, the Community Service Hours Graduation Requirement- Recommendation Motion was briefly reintroduced to the body. If you are interested in sharing your thoughts about the motion, consider attending the next Council meeting two weeks from now, on 1/21/26.

The full agenda and minutes of Wednesday the 7th’s meeting, when completed.

Martin Mosdal (Council Secretary)

Senior Family Information: Focus on Scholarships

Many seniors have submitted their college applications, and now it is time to focus on applying for scholarships!

  • Here is the comprehensive list of all Scholarship and Award Opportunities we receive at HHS. Scholarships are posted throughout the year, with varying deadlines. Check this document often for updates!

  • Vermont residents are able to complete one application to be considered for multiple VSAC-assisted scholarships. Here is the VSAC scholarship booklet. The deadline for the VSAC application is February 11. View information about the VSAC scholarships.

  • For New Hampshire residents, the NH Charitable Foundation uses a single online application for students to apply for all scholarship awards available. Information and the link to apply is available happly.

  • Multiple online scholarship search services are available. Most require students to provide a name and email address to begin. (Some students have created separate email addresses just to provide to scholarship search engines.) Hanover High School does not expressly recommend any of the below scholarship search services, but here are some recommended by Granite Edvance:

  • The FAFSA is open! Complete it as soon as your family is able! Here is the class of 2026 financial aid information that was emailed to all students and families earlier this fall, which includes information about the FAFSA and resources for help to complete it.
