From Our Principal

Happy end of semester 1. Hopefully our students will enjoy a three-day weekend without homework etc. Our teachers will be busy wrapping up semester 1 and getting ready for Semester 2. This is a very stressful time for teachers. A quick thank you goes a long way!

Many of us are grateful to have the opportunity to be present for our students and get them ready for life after high school. During this bumpy time as a nation, we are lucky to be tasked with getting our students ready to go out and create thriving and functional communities. Thank you for trusting us with that work. We take it seriously!

There is a shifting legal landscape in NH regarding video and audio recordings at school. Here is the Hanover High School update that is related to this new law:

At Hanover High School we take immense pride in the growth and accomplishments of our learners. Throughout the school year, students participate in a wide range of academic and co-curricular activities that showcase their hard work and dedication. To capture these moments and to support our students in achieving these great accomplishments, our school occasionally utilizes photography, video, and audio recordings for several key purposes:

  • Celebrating Success: Sharing highlights in district newsletters and school webpages

  • Academic Development:  Integrating video and audio for creative presentations, developing language ability, and building engaging activities, among a number of other innovative classroom uses.  We believe that seeing and hearing oneself is a wonderful instructional tool.

  • Athletic Performance and Review: Utilizing recordings for training, scouting, and athletic performance highlights to help students refine their skills and pursue future opportunities.  Livestreaming of events to celebrate our participants and provide access to families and relatives not in attendance.

  • Band, Chorus & Theater Performances: Utilizing recording and livestreaming to document student participation in performing arts programs—including band, chorus, theater, and related activities—to celebrate student learning and achievement, support instructional programs, and communicate with families and the community.

  • Teacher Feedback: Reviewing teacher classroom practices with an instructional coach in order to refine and improve student outcomes.

  • Community Engagement: Making our public events like graduation accessible to the greater Hanover community.

We respect the privacy of our families and believe parents and guardians should have the final say in how their child’s image and name are used.  We ask that you fill out the following form to give permission for your child to use and be included in audio and video recordings as part of their educational experience at Hanover High School.  Your filling out of the form will let us continue with our current academic, co-curricular and community programming uninterrupted and remain in compliance with a new state law that recently went into effect.  If you have any questions or hesitations about any of the uses of recordings in our school or about the requirements of the new law, please do not hesitate to reach out.  We hope to get all responses returned by Thursday, 1/22/26. If we have not received your response for your student(s) by the 22nd we will be reaching out the following week to remind you to complete the form. Click here for a link to this form.
