HHS Principal's Weekly December 16, 2022

Message from our Principal

SNOWDAY!!!!

Our staff has been working on the schedule for next year. It is hard to believe, but it needs to be decided by early January at the latest! Running blocks and periods together has been problematic for some students. It puts too many constraints on our schedule and some are not able to get the basic courses they need. We will be moving towards blocks next year on M, T, Th and Fri with a period Wednesday, where all classes meet.

We are also discussing our Circle curriculum. We want to make it appropriate for students and staff, while giving everyone what they need to build community at HHS and emerge from Hanover High prepared to face the larger community. As you can imagine, these decisions are hard and involve a great deal of compromise. At the same time, our teachers are working to engage students in the classroom each day. There is a great deal going on!

YOUTH-IN-ACTION

I delivered the meal to David’s House Thursday night and enjoyed a conversation with one of the managers.  Don couldn’t emphasize enough just how much the guests at the House appreciate all you do to help them and make their stay more comforting. The smell of dinner wafting from the kitchen when returning after a difficult day at the hospital is almost like “coming home to a home cooked meal” and a sense of calmness.  Please know, whatever you do to contribute to David’s House, or any other organization, is truly appreciated.

The next David’s House dinner is January 4th - the week we return from the winter break.

YIA hosts NEW, never tried before events in January - check out the January calendar and sign up often - YIA in January  Enjoy the break and come back ready to help others.
