Social Emotional

School Counselors are available on a drop-in basis and/or by appointment. School Counselors meet with students and families around academic concerns, post high school planning, and personal issues. Counselors respond to individual students in crisis as well as situations affecting the entire school.       Counseling services are based on the three tenets:

  • Talking to a counselor is voluntary.
  • Except in cases of personal safety, what a student says is confidential.
  • The responsibility for solving a problem belongs to the student

Confidentiality Statement

As professional school counselors, our goal is to maintain strict confidentiality when it comes to students and parents at Hanover High School. All meetings held with the school counselor will remain confidential unless student or parent gives permission to share information with related parties.

However, circumstances do arise when we must disclose information to appropriate professionals based on NH state law and Hanover Norwich School District Policy. Our ultimate goal is to keep all members of the HHS community safe from harm. Reasons for reporting include the following: student in danger of harming self, student in danger of harming other, student in danger of being harmed by others.
