Students on Stage

This week, SOZ will be performing “Lifestyle Content” by Lia Romeo, a dark comedy about four staffers of a lifestyle magazine trying to create online content in the face of global catastrophe. 

Historically, SOS has given students the opportunity to work on shows that contain material that may be considered controversial. Please note that this content is intended for an audience that is fourteen years old and above. 

“WEEK TWO”

This week, SOZ will be performing a trio of two person plays: “Love. Mom.” by Shelley Stolaroff, a funny, short piece following a mother and daughter preparing for a post-COVID family reunion; “Zoom Session” by Ken Weitzman, the Zoom meeting of a couple separated by lockdown; and “Seconds” by Ken Preuss, a conversation between two twenty-somethings trying to have a second date over Zoom. The suggested viewing order is “Love. Mom.”, “Zoom Session”, “Seconds”.

“WEEK THREE”

This week, SOZ has prepared three monologues, all from shows that were considered for the SOS production. In the first monologue, from “Jake’s Women” by Neil Simon, a sister confronts her brother about the problems in his relationships. In the second monologue, from “Five Women Wearing the Same Dress” by Alan Ball, a woman reflects on an old relationship. And in the third, from “The Miss Firecracker Contest” by Beth Henley, a woman reaches for beauty pageant success.
